I have had my 340 for about 2 months now, and after just cleaning the carb and replacing the cap, which was full of water and corrosion, I now have a new problem. Aside from running great, and being very good sounding tractor, While using it, the governor does not appear to be working well. There is no change in idle from the slow idle position to about half way, then it will go up in engine speed. This all seems normal, But after putting it under load, it will go down to almost idle and then it will be unsteady there after.
It will also not go down to idle or back up to high idle all the time when moving the throtle control. I have made sure the adjustment is right at the carb. linkage, but with snowblowing season almost here, I am trying to find some sort of cure without rebuilding the gov. or tearing it apart. Thanks everyone.
