Agreed, just be REAL careful. It's easy to take a clutch for granted and forget how important it is to safety. Think it through before you jump on and start it up.
Remember that you can't stop without killing the engine.
And remember that you have to keep the clutch pedal depressed the whole time for your efforts to make any difference.
It's a weird sensation to start moving while you're trying to start the tractor, but it can be done. Just be damn sure you've got plenty of open space around you that you can circle in.
If it doesn't release after a few minutes of putting around, try tapping the brakes occassionally (with the clutch still pressed in).
if that doesn't work - try pulling something heavy but moveable.
I'm not a big fan of chaining the tractor to a tree - but you will get that suggestion, and it does work.
Same with having somebody pull start you. Not a big fan of that either, but would do that before chaining to a tree. I would do it with the motor killed, and tap the brakes a few time while moving. Again, be sure to have the clutch depressed the whole time, it's feels so wrong, so it's easy to forget you need to do it.
