A few years ago, the late Hugh McKay said he swapped his troublesome and expensive tel-a-depth valve with a standard single/double valve from the 560 series. He said it worked fine and looked factory, but he lost 'depth control.' Does that mean it was either all the way up or all the way down? (He couldn't locate the expensive spider gears for the tele-a-depth valve in the 1970's, and their non-existant today.) Why wouldn't the double acting valve be able to stop movement of the cylinder in mid stroke?
