Check the distributor bushings. a loose shaft will have timing issues galore. Less than .001" in any direction (radial, not axial) will be OK. A vacuum leak is also a possible problem. Use a propane torch with the nozzle off to let pure (not burning) propane come out. (do this outside) run the torch along manifold to head gasket, and at the carb to manifold. INternal manifold leaks to the exhaust system are also possible, (no external way to check that, it requires removal and filling with water or Kero to find leaks. Jim
