It normally only takes a couple of turns at most to reach the max that pump will put out with out some internal work done. If the fuel pressure is not up to snuff you could be short of fuel though and it is easily adjustable from outside if original pump. You need to be certain of your fuel flow first off and then with a gauge hooked up you gently tap the end plug of the regulator piston to increase pressure. If you go too far, well, then you have to take regulator apart and tap plug back out. Need to look up specs though and also a good idea to observe the speed advance with a window on pump while doing this so you would need some knowledge of what to look for.
