I'd say the Farmall is the longer lasting make. My Dad still uses our SuperMTA every day he's working on the farm. It's not a real pretty tractor but it's a darned good original worker (except for conversion to 12v due to N. Mo. winter starting requirements). I know of NO working original JD in our district of the same vintage. Not a SINGLE one. I used the MTA to put out my first crop, so I can testify to it's pleasurable use in comparison to a 2 cyl. JD. With regard to the latter, I never could figure out how to lift the left front cultivator with my left hand, the right front cultivator with my right hand, turn the steering wheel with my third hand, and operate the clutch with my fourth hand. Then I finally figured out that the JD WAS designed for those with 4 hands... yup, you guessed it, only monkeys cheerfully own a John Deere. LOL.
