Once the bolt and washer are off, the brake drum should slide straight off. Its not a tapered shaft, so it is most likely stuck w/ a little rust or just crud. If your seals are leaking, its even less likely to be rust. A pair of prybars, carefully applied on opposiste sides, will usually pop the drum off. If that fails, reinsert just the bolt and use a two jaw puller.. carefully. The seal can then be pried out by driving a sharped old srewdriver (a big'un) through the side of the seal and prying it carefully, but firmly. You'll totally destroy the seal, but don't worry, you're replacing it anyway. Just be careful not to damage the shaft or the seal housing. DON'T take the cap screws out thinking you're going to remove the entire housing. It won't come out unless you're inside the tranny and have takent the bull gears loose. If anything, make sure they're good and tight. New seals are much thinner than the old ones, and you CAN double up on them, but the newer seals are so much better, one seems to be adequate. Just try to position it to a depth wehre it doesn't run in any groove worn by the previous leather seal on the brake drum. Make sure you put a dab of oil/grease on the portion of the drum that goes into the seal so you don't accidently fold the lip of the seal back and knock the spring off. Good luck! Its not a difficult task, and is time well spent. BTW, if your brake bands are just oil soaked, but otherwise not in bad shape, you can burn the oil off w/ a torch (outside, away from flammables), as the bands should be fireproof. They can be reused then. Do ONE side at a time or be very careful to not get parts swapped from one side to the other. The actuators are side specific.
