This weekend I took off the brake covers, one band was worn down to the rivets, the second wasn't far behind. I took off the brake drums and cleaned them all up with a wire wheel.
I looked in my local restoration parts catalog, the one where I purchased all the ignition parts that lasted about a week and ended up being made in China. The catalog had new brake bands for $56 each, I originally guessed they were made in China. I decided to call my local CASE-IH dealer, figured I'd probably pay around $75 for some CASE-IH brakes. CASE-IH quoted $44 each but they did't know where they are made. When I questioned the price, she said she cannot determine where they are made but she has another set of aftermarket brakes for $134 each that she has in stock and she knows are American made. I called the catalog comany and they confirmed the $56 brakes are American made, guess I'll go with them!
