To "International Harvester Co. Ltd. £409:10/- Being Farmall Model H tractor on rubber tyres £404, power take off £3:15/-, sliding drawbar 35/-.
From diary:
Tuesday 11 February 1941:
Brought tractor down and prepared for loading.
Wednesday 12 February 1941:
Loaded F12 onto Whatley's truck, then multitude of odd jobs, really awaiting arrival of new one, which eventually turned up at 6.30 pm.
Thursday 13 February 1941:
Adjusting new tractor, calibrating tank, checking oil and grease. Tightening bolts etc. learning controls. Adjusting tyres. Steering slightly heavier than F12, with load on. Also somewhat slower to answer helm. Steering wheel lies conveniently placed and larger - alright when familiar. Starting handle
badly placed. Difficult to turn. Query Elec. Starter.
Friday 14 February 1941:
Engine running apparently well below rated speed - 1440 instead of 1650. Query - So governor set low when new? Ask Lyle on Tuesday.
Tuesday 18 February 1941:
IHC expert up in afternoon to check over and "start".
Thursday 20 February 1941:
Morning. General check over of tractor - all that expert left undone - tightening bolts etc. adjust clutch etc. etc. Checking engine speed adjustment (Governor definitely requires alteration).
