Yup, what you said. By way of further detail, a "bush hog", more properly called a 'rotary mower' or if y'all are from Dixie, a 'shredder', uses a pair of VERY heavy blades, pinned to a central bar or disk, so that when they hit something they can't chew, they swing back out of the way. Centripital (or centrifugal, I never can remember which is which) normally keeps them at right angles to the drive shaft. What they will cut depends on how big a machine you have and how much horsepower you have spinning it. The blades on my light/medium duty Woods 5' mower weigh perhaps as much as 10 or 15 pounds each, and driven by a 20 horse diesel, will reliably cut 3-4" saplings, if the saplings are green and the blades are somewheres near sharp.
