Frost on the outside is common in 5 minutes but internal freezing usually takes a little more time. many pieces of heavy equipment have intake heaters on the exhaust/muffler leading to the air intake to prewarm the air. Carbs from the mid to late 60s had heat stoves on the manifold, and crossover exhaust heated intakes. That lasted until carbs were replaced by Port Fuel Injection. Jim
