I agree. Magnetos are very reliable and it is smart to rebuild a mag rather than go to the expense of installing a distributor. You can have the mag rebuilt in your area by anybody that works on mags such as are on Lincoln welders. It may just need a $3 condenser. With a mag you can always start your tractor without a battery, by hand cranking or pulling. By the way, you'll also need an ignition switch. Your mag switch just has one connection and grounds the mag to kill it. It won't work with a distributor. I'll buy your old mag and switch if you decide to change. I've got some tractors I'd like to put on mags.
