I'm about 99.9% sure they were made only by IH at thier Nuess, Germany factory for IH and maybe a few of thier subsidiaries. Then the engines were shipped to the US, Australia ect... to be installed in what ever tractor, combine, or other application that IH used them for. International Harvester had plants in several countries around the world. They truly were "International". Read Ken Updike's book, International Harvester Tractors, 1955-1985. It is full of excellent pictures and loaded with very interesting history about many IH models built from 1955-1985. Ken has written several interesting articles in RED POWER magazine as well, some of which address the D-310 engine in tractors such as the 756. I have a '69 IH 756 with a german D310 in it. I love that engine. It has great response with the boost it gets from the M&W turbo on it! And it just sipps fuel, very economical!
