Hello Hendrik, Just watch the tach and what ever RPM the engine quits missing at, retard 40rpm from there. It really doesn't matter what the final RPM is when it quits missing. The reason for the 1500rpm is to get the carb off of idle jets and orperating on the main jets. Most engines are off idle jets at 1500rpm. If you timed by this method on idle jets then applied power the engine would be out of time as soon as the engine started orperating on the main jets. T_Bone
