That 50/50 stuff is just fine if you like to throw away good money. You figure it is 1 gal. that you pay $7.95 for so you in fact pay $7.95 for half a gal of antifreeze. Or you can buy a full gal of anti freeze and pay around $10 for it. Its your money but me I buy and mix my own. As for checking the radiator you pop the cap and make sure you have enough coolant in it to cover the fins about half an inch
