Yea,That is the real "tricky"/"sticky" thing is finding one semi- local to your location.MOST of us cannot afford to travel across the United States to check out a tractor.LET ALONE pick it up 5-6 states away! Like others are saying, just keep looking. You are in the age of information with Craig's list,EBAY,Yesterday's Tractor,Red Power Magazine, and even local listings.I found mine in a local Trader magazine.Took me over a year to find what I wanted.
I am a little spoiled living in Southern Indiana. My favorites seem to be all over the place here! In the last year I casually passed up a 450 with loaded options and a 560 D that had recent rebuild.Biggest deal now though is scrapping steel. The ones I used to see in the fence row are getting less every day.Implements too.
I am finding that more and more the tractors are in the hands of the people who either wanna fix them(like all of us) or they are "diced up" in smaller sections in a dump trailer heading across a set of scales. Same with my old Chevrolet cars.Used to be everywhere. Now people either have them done to keep for themselves,or they are on trailers heading for the crusher.
That is funny! I just thought about how many "sitting" tractors I used to pass on the way home from work.About 90% of those are gone now. I still see an 880 Oliver, but owner uses it time to time.
