There is a collar that slides out of the front casting and has slots in it to engage the pin in the ends of the crankshaft. The shaft that you put the crank on goes into the middle of this collar piece and has a pin on the end of it that fits inside the collar and turns it while allowing the connection flex. Either the collar is rusted in place, in which case it just needs heat and tapping and oil to break loose, or maybe the pin that connects the shaft to the collar has fallen out, in which case you'll have to buy a pin or cut a bit of a bolt to go in there, as I did. Either way it is pretty self evident if you look at it from below what the problem is. Hand cranking is a good way to start an H, I have been starting mine with the crank for about 9 months until today when I got my new battery and wiring put on. Zach
