I to have given up on regulators. After 2 bad made in India junkers and 1 usa regulator. (Genny was rebuilt and I can ground out the field at the regulator and charges fine.) I am crossing over to the dark side. I ordered a Hitachi alternator yesterday. My NAPA man said it had to be special ordered out of a warehouse in Colorado. I said say what. He said when was the last time you saw a 1978 Datsun on the road. About 20 years I replied!!
