I have a question that I have posed to some of my Farmall friends off and on for the past several years and it has stumped them all. I have a 1953 Super M with the live hydraulic pump and the gear shift lever on it is what I consider to be the "straight" lever, as it has the single bend in it just a bit above the cap where it is placed into the top of the transmission. I seem to recall seeing both M's and Super M's with what I call the "crooked" lever, where it has two bends in the lever. I know for sure we had stored an "M" for a friend of my dad's at our farm, and I believe this was an early to mid 1940's M, and it had the "crooked" lever. Can anyone tell me the story behind the two different gear shift levers?
