I won't comment on the "scam" potential but I would not do business that way. For starters, I would fix the flat. Hard to load and unload the tractor the way it is. I would also make sure the pictures were perfect and not shot with a cheap cell phone. If the seller can't be bothered to have someone email him good pictures, how hard is this guy trying?
Of course, the biggest problem is its location. I don't think the seller has any confidence that the sale will offset the cost of shipping. If that is the case, the sale and subsequent delivery will never happen. The $500 deposit will be refunded by eBay. OTOH, I am guessing four tractors can be crammed into a 40' container. Tied to this shipping problem is the seller's dependance on several third parties to actually get the tractor(s) on a boat.
There are mistakes in the ad. The SMTADV that he refers to has been sold at least three times in the last 6.5 years. The first sale in PA (I was in attendance and there is my post/report here on YT) was around $40,000. The second sale in IL may have been around $75,000 but I am not sure. I have heard that the last sale reverted back to $40,000.
The MV he said sold for $34,000 at the Freeman Auction is a lie. It sold for about $5000. See picture below.
Lastly, why would an experienced tractor man use the term "International Farmall". It is one or the other or IH Farmall. This is annoying, at the least, and suspect overall.
