Yes, the rings were the most of the problem right along with 2 other important factors. The #3 exhaust valve seat needed to be refaced and the valve tappet clearance needed to be reset. My biggest goof was that I never adjusted the clearance. I thought I could get away with leaving them at the previous owners setting. Duh!!! Not a good idea. When I tried to start her, I didnt have any compression in #3and #4. I made a few calls and came up with fact that I had overlooked resetting the clearances. Once I did that she fired up. JDHump
