I don't know much about the Fordson Major other than it is over 10 years newer than any M. It is bigger and I would assume it has a lot more features and power than an M. These features include live pto, live hyd, multiple hydraulic outlets, and 2 way hydraulics. I also know a lot of them were diesels. Before it starts...yes I know people farmed without live pto back then, but EVERY SINGLE TRACTOR HAS IT NOW and there is a reason.
I really don't know much about problems with them. ie how often, how expensive, how hard to fix. I would guess parts are pretty pricey and much tougher to find. The Mennonites (sp) run the snot out of them up north in both rubber and steel wheeled versions. They can't be that crappy.
