I am not certain about all of the different Fordson's that were made. Our's had a 540 PTO and I don't think they came with a 1000 PTO (Maybe in the UK???). I don't remember the RPM it ran at but we would run it at full throttle on the baler and also ran a PTO grain auger with it. The tractor had sufficent power for it's PTO jobs. My Dad wasn't much for running equipment that "sort of worked"--so no need to run at partial throttle or anything like that. If it helps, I think ours was built in 1960 (I think there were a few improvements made to them from the first to last one made).
I still love my IH's, but I also liked the Fordson for many reasons. There are plenty of good vintage tractors that make excellent baling tractors.
