I purchased a bulldozer this fall, an International TD 14. It’s around a '58. It has a running issue and I haven’t yet found anyone able repair it. The gentleman that owned the machine previously was never able to start it on gas. He had started it with ether on the diesel side. When started, it does run very well. Once I bought it, I've been working on repairing the problem. I will tell you exactly what I've done. The first thing I started with was cleaning the carburetor. There was a lot of rust and debris. Someone was there before me and tried to silicone it back together. I’ve removed all that was dirty and bolted it back on, and also cleaned the gas tank. When I started it, it had a very bad skip; actually was running on 2 cylinders. I was able to keep it running for several minutes, but eventually it petered out and stalled. That’s when I learned that the mag needle was failing. I pulled the mag off and had it repaired. When I got it back, it worked perfectly. I reinstalled it, attempted to start it with no prevail. I also replaced the sparkplugs and wires, and again it failed to start. When I was looking at the intake, I noticed there is apparently a ''flapper'' inside to shut the vacuum off to the diesel side so the vacuum has to be pulled threw the carburetor so it is able to get gas for it run. I haven’t pulled the intake to see its working properly. I would like to talk with someone before I tear into something that I don’t have too. It would be very much appreciated to hear back from you or if you know anyone that could aide me through this dilemma
