I hope the guy that sold you your parts took everything off of one tractor and did not try to assemble the system from used parts on a shelf. The flow control valve is special and that goes for the valve that fits next to the manifold/stand/housing (whatever you want to call it). There are probably 4-6 different valves and I cannot see that they are identified with part numbers. It takes an expert to know the difference. They were used for 7-8 years on probably 20 different systems. I am not familiar with the 300 U but I did retrofit a PS on a Farmall 400 last year and it wasn't easy. Another poster on this board last winter was doing exactly what you are doing now. I recall he had problems with the U-pipe as well. Check the archives. Just reread your post and decided to send this picture. It is the 400 PS Hydra-Touch. You will notice that there is no plate. An SAE O-ring right-angle fitting x JIC (I think) screws into the valve. I hope you have a parts book.
