First of all "wiggling" is no substitute for what I recommend which is to remove,,,,,,,,,,clean and wire brush all shiny,,,,,,,,,and replace each and every battery and starter and switch and especially FRAME GROUND cable and connection then try it again.
If when you push the start switch the lights dont dim down and/or the voltage dont drop much the problem may be the start switch contacts are burned and pitted and resistive (but still could be maybe starter brush problem)
However, if the lights dim wayyyyyyyyy down and voltage drops drastically IF ALLLLLLLLLL CABLES N CONNECTIOSN ARE GOOD???? Id suspect a starter problem instead of the switch
Yes you can by pass jump the switch direct to starter but thats a HIGH current jump remember and requires heavy jumper cables and good connections
Id suspect a cable or connection or ground problem BEFORE the rest
