B Farmall explanation more money than brains? Some times people get the gotta haves or are tired of shopping and might do something that doesn't make sense. Value of parts tractors, yes you might get 2 or 3 times scrap value out of it, but you have to haul it, disassemble it, store the parts, market the parts, deal with people, many of which may be of low scruples that will try to scam you, beat you down on price, want you to deliver, want you to take the old or other parts in trade. In short you will have labor, expense and carrying costs on a part out, it's not money falling from trees. As much as it pains me and goes against the very fiber of my being a lot of times it does not make economic sense to fix stuff. It is real easy to get more money tied up in something than it is worth. Don't hang me- I like fixing stuff and I am not criticizing those that do but you need to understand spending $3,000 to fix a tractor worth $3,000 is an economic loser, to be rational you need to understand the entertainment or sentimental value in your hobby, and the new owner isn't going to pay for your fun or might not care it was your dad's tractor.
