I'm not so sure about that whole galvanized thing. I recently put new rear tires on my 1950 H that has NEVER been repainted, and BOTH rear rims showed definite signs of having been painted ALUMINUM with a brush. I could still see the brush strokes. BOTH rear rims were exactly the same. I used a wire brush on an angle grinder to clean the rims up, got right down to bare metal, and saw NO indications of ANY galvanizing.
During the IH sponsered repainting programs of the '50s, the front and rear rims ALL got painted with aluminum.
You guys can argue with me till the cows come home, but the CORRECT paint for the rims IS aluminum.
