Hello everyone, My father-in-law has an old Farmall tractor and I've been trying to find a service manual for it for him. It's a model FAAV we think. The plate has the "FAA" on it in raised letters followed by a stamped letter "V" infilled with red paint. Serial number is 276031. Other information which may be helpful is that the machine was made in Chicago, there is no dipstick, the oil pan has two pet cock on it for checking the oil level, rear tires are on 36" rims, two independent two-point implement lifts (one on the rear and one on the belly) and finally the machine has a wide front end. Does anyone know when this tractor was made? He thinks it may have been in 1931. Is this tractor a Farmall model AV? What does the V stand for? What's the difference between and "A", "AV" and "Super AV"? Last but not least, where is a good place to find a service manual for this tractor? I found a site online, www.batescorp.com, which has a bunch of manuals including one for the model "A" but doesn't list one specificly for the model "AV". Is the model "AV" close enough to the "A" such that the manuals would be same? Sorry for all the questions but I know very little about tractors. Regards, Drew Rogge drew@pixar.com

It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
