Using a larger cylinder may not be the smartest thing to do. The 2.5" cylinder will produce 75% more force than the original.
The original cylinder was designed for the lift capacity of the hitch. A 2.5" cylinder will lift almost 2X as much weight. The hitch can break, the tractor can flip over backwards.
Also, the cheapest 2.5" cylinder is over $60 on ebay, plus shipping. Locally it will cost you well over $100. You will also need different hoses and some fittings. A rebuild kit costs $25, and you can do it yourself with simple hand tools.
