Had the same problem with my Cub; and all I did was remove it and sat it on the work bench to paint the tractor. Put it back on the tractor and it would not stop leaking. Re-built it , re-did everything and would not stop leaking after shut=down. Ended up buying a new one . Problem solved. I bet yours is a Zenith? Good luck.
