Early 560's had rear end issues, but if it's a '63, those issues would have been remedied by IH by then.
Everybody complains about the glow plugs. Few bother to replace them. 6 good glow plugs are essential for starting these engines.
If it has the sleeves in the diesel engine that use shims to adjust the sleeve standout, the sleeves don't press fit in the block and can occasionally start dancing around in the bore especially if the proper shims weren't used.
These engines could have used at least a half-dozen more head bolts, but there is no place for them. Head gasket failures are more common than other series of IH diesel engines.
My dad's 560 diesel got to where it was blowing head gaskets about once a year. He had the block bored and sleeves with an oversized outside diameter to fit the new bore for the later style engines installed that press-fit into the block installed. He studded the block and threw the head bolts and the pipe spacers in the trash. No more shims, either. About 5 years and 2500 hours later it has some decent power and no problems. The only thing he perhaps should have done is put a later style head with the bigger valves on it.
A later 560 should have the clutch type PTO that is adjustable on the tractor. It should have a plug on the top that looks like a big nut. With the earlier clutch type PTO's the rear end oil had to be drained and the unit had to be removed from the tractor to be adjusted. There was a band-type PTO used on the earliest 560's.
