First? Look for a engine serial number and prefix letters or numbers. Stamped just below head on left front of block. Depending on the time period of engine change different locations may be found of the block casting # and date code. Probably for you the block cast # will be on lower left of block near center of the block. Should find 6 numbers followed by R1 original. Post what you have if different. Date code will be on the left side near rear of Inj. pump or near back behind fuel filter. Original was probably a Y code. Second ? yes problem is in the fuel injection or primary, scavenger pump. # 3 ? Manifolds can be found. # 4 ? Frame rails are the same length on all M tractors, although there is some differences between most gas and diesel ones. Sounds like they may have installed a gasoline upper front bolster on the tractor. Would check chassis serial #. A 54 Super MD chassis is not to common.
