If you pull the shifter and see that the rails are already aligned you may have lost the pilot bearing and be effectively stuck in 5th. This happened to me on my H last summer. The symptoms were that when I put it in any other gear but 5th it acted like it was in two gears and whether I put in 5th or left it in neutral it would act the same, like it was in 5th. For some reason the rollers in the pilot bearing disintegrated and jammed instead of rolling around like they had always done before. Zach
