The last few Delco SI alternator to IH mounting brackets I built, have vertical 2 inch slots where the bracket bolts to the engine. This allows adjusting the alternator up / down in addition to right / left. Makes for far more adjustment to compensate for wear.
For an alternator belt, I use Power twist link belts. This stuff wears forever, can be installed without removing the fan belt and is easy to add or remove links to get the right belt length for a custom fit. Most bearings and drives places have it in stock in 10 ft rolls.
