Robert,

If you want your tractor to still look original, see my posting under Farmall M electrical system upgrade on the Tractor Talk page. All you have to do to change your tractor from 6 volt positive ground to 12 volt negative ground is; change the fields in your generator to 12 volt field coils, install a 12 volt regulator, put a resister on your coil, reverse the ammeter wires, and put in 12 volt battery and light bulbs and you are in business and it still looks original. The 6 volt starter works fine on 12 volts. Just turns faster.
