Hi Dave, Here's a few things to check out - make sure all of your electrical connections - battery terminals, terminal on the starter, the positive battery connection frame bolt and threads, and so on - are clean and shiny. Dunno how new your battery is, so make sure it is fully charged. The switch on the starter itself has some brass(?) contacts in it, so you could take that apart and clean them(makes a difference!). Use good battery cables that are one or zero gauge and fairly new - their ability to carry current degrades with time. If these things don't help, it may be time for a starter rebuild with new brushes and so forth. Any good auto electrical shop can do it. The starter on my 100 is going in for a rebuild shortly. Like you said, it won't necessarily start as fast as a car, but it does spin the engine rather easily when in proper repair. Hope this helps.
