Dave, In my posting, what I was referring to is that the Deeres can't, as a rule, pull the fan as fast as IH, Case, M-H, A-C, Etc. of the same hp rating. I think it has to do with the pulley being direct drive off the crankshaft, so no mechanical advantage like the others. The J-Ds also have a harder time starting the fan because it pulls the rpm down so low at startup that they drop below their very narrow torque curve. I have no axe to grind, I have just watched baker fans at the shows for @ 20 years+. State of tune also has a lot to do with individual performance. The fan is a great place to fine tune a tractor.
