Old, maybe I'm wrong, but as I recall from the "old days" the two petcocks on the old Farmall engine oil pans were originally used for the two fuel tractors where you were supposed to drain the oil off to the lower level in the morning following each days work and refill to the top petcock level with fresh new oil to eliminate the possibility of the oil being thinned by unburned fuel which accumulated on top of the oil in the crankcase. In any event you should keep the oil up to the top petcock level. Yes, you fill through the "eared" cover on the magneto drive housing on the right side of the engine near the timing gear housing.
