I did the right side (side without weight). All I can say is that it is heavy enough, with the weight on it's gonna be even worse. If you have it rigged properly you could certainly do it with the weight on, but it would be awkward. keep in mind that the whole thing will want to rotate since it will be unbalanced, again, proper rigging needs to be used. I also recall it being awkward to put back on due to the weight. Once you have the bolts out, all that is left are two dowel pins which might be stuck. I believe there are some gaps on the bottom that you could do some prying on, but as you said, you don't want to break the cast.
