do you have a multimeter? read the voltage across the battery terminals with- key off, key on, key on and running hi idle. the voltage should be highest running hi idle. check belt tension and look for obvious things like corroded connections, loose wires, bad switch etc.then go from there. find a schematic to make things easier. good luck.
