Replacing the seals is relatively straightfoward and can be done without splitting the tractor.
Most difficult task is dropping the belly pump - it's heavy and awkward to handle if working alone. Once the pump's out, removing the couplings and seal retainers is a simple matter.
New seals are cheap and readily available from any bearing supplier (no need to purchase seals from the CIH dealer). New seals will be about 1/2 the thickness of the originals. But they fit and work fine.
