I have a 240U with a CharLynn torque generator PS on it. The front steering gears and steering arm set-up on the 240U are weak and you will most likely have a problem with it at some point with a loader. The TG is mounted in the steering rod that runs along the left side of the engine and is a pretty clean arangement, but the weak gears and arm will not take the load of a loader over time. Mine showed evidenceof repairs before I bought it and I have rebuilt the front since I have had it. what happened on mine was the shaft below the bolster woreout the Woodruff keey slot, it had then been reversed 180 and a new keyway cut for the arm to mount. When I got it, the second keyway was worn out so I had to buy a gear set and arm from a salvage. Gear and shaft for the arm are one piece. As I said in an earlier post, the 404 has a pair of cylinders and a steering valve instead of a torque generator that no doubt puts too much strain on the gears and arm. With cylinders attached directly to the arm, the strain is "downstream" from the weak points, so should last longer. Fnd a 404 or newer if you can would be my recommendation.
One more problem... mine has a priority flow divider valve to supply the PS and then I lose flow to the 3 point below about 1/3 throttle.

Today's Featured Article - The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
