Beginning with the 100 or 130 the serial number is supposed to be on the left side of the clutch housing, according to Guy Fay's tractor data book. I have never looked at a 140 up close, but the seat is different also, perhaps yours has a Super A seat, etc on it. No IH tractor ever startered with the 200 serial numbers, unless you lucked out and got a prototype or something.
