Pretty much rules out any timing issues or fuel grade issues.
I don't believe in those in-line filters either, but if it ran for 15 minutes, I think it is safe to say the filter is NOT the culprit.
A functioning sediment bowl, along with the in-line filter pretty much rules out any carburetor issues also, but having the carb rebuilt sure won't hurt anything.
Right now, I am leaning towards either a WEAK ignition coil, or a gas tank cap with a plugged up vent, or the WRONG gas cap that is not vented at all.
