I have zero experience with a Super M (although I would like to own one as well as a Super H) or your particular model of NH haybine.
That said I pull a Hesston 1120 (9' sickle mower with conditioner rollers) with an old 1950 John Deere A which has quite a bit less hp than your Super M. I hope to try a plain old Farmall h on the moco this year just for giggles.
I think your Super will do fine in 2nd gear (3.8 mph) in heavy yielding hay and probably be able to use 3rd gear (5.0 mph) some in more normal yielding hay. I highly doubt that you ever will have to use 1st gear (2.6 mph) with the hp you have available.
