I have a 706 gas that was operating fine when I put it to bed last October - of course. I've started it several times this spring and have the same problem each time - either no or very hard steering that seems like it has air in the line and intermittent loss of clutch actuation. I've driven it out of the barn a couple times but I didn't get far before it just stops. This is always accompanied by the very hard steering condition. Then it just starts going again - once with quite a jump. There is also a whirring sound around the gas tank that I didn't have last year. If I have steering, turning the wheels all the way to the left eliminates the sound and will extinguish the hydraulic warning light but as soon as I release the wheel, the sound and warning light return. I added 5 gallons of Hy-Tran to the transmission as suggested for similar problems on this site but it didn't help. Any suggestions before I call a mechanic.
