Maybe it was because my generator was previously rebuilt on my F504, but I remember it being black before I put a Delco 1-wire on it. The Delco alternator is cast aluminum. My starter is black, it may have been OH'ed before too? I do not know if they were red or not fresh from IH. My F504 is 18 years older than me!
When I finally paint my F504, the starter will be black and I will not put the generator back on it. I have 2 OEM head lights, 2 55 watt trapezoids on the loader and the OEM rear light. The generator could not keep up.
