I've got older steel plates (16 cell) with 4 digit numbers and a letter like 1977a but when I look at the table for plates on the seed bag they are numbers like B6, etc. Is there a table to cross reference the numbers. If not how do I pick a plate size - just pick the smallest ones the seeds fit into easily? I've got plenty of plates - just don't have any with numbers that match the bag.
1977A is a small or medium flat corn plate (forget which), 1975A is an xtra small. find an old planter manual (1940's / 1950's) and they will show the iron numbers and cell sizes. Away from home at the moment or I'd throw those numbers at you.
