I have to agree with Gene on this one. Why 12 volt? To be fair, I am totally stubborn about 6 volt systems. My Farmall M has its original Lucas 6 Volt system and there ain't nothing on Earth going to make me change it. In any case, when the starter motor won't turn it over I just crank start it as it nearly always fires up second or third turn. At 4½:1 compression, it's not hard to wind it over by hand.
